September, 1949

Aerosol valve patent filed by Robert Abplanalp, founder of Precision Valve Corporation.

Precision founded and the first mass produced aerosol valve patented by the Company.

March 17th, 1953

USPTO issues the first Precision Aerosol Valve patent.

1958

Precision develops the first "under the cup" filling machine, which replaces the much more inefficient and costly cold-filling method.

Mid 1960s

Precision develops the first valve that is pressure filled, button-on. Prior to this development, buttons have always been applied to the valve after filling.
Vulkan total release actuator

1977

Precision develops the "Total Release" actuator. Today, the "Total Release" is the industry standard.

360 valve

Early 1980s

German operation develops an advanced 360 degree valve (now called an up/down valve), which permits the consumer to use the product in an upright or inverted position.

Precision & Pepsi

July 19th, 1985

Pepsi-Cola and NASA select Precision Valve, Dispensing Spout, and Protective Cap to be used on Pepsi-Cola's Space Cans. The Pepsi-Cola Space Cans will be sent into orbit aboard the space shuttle Challenger. These will be the first commercially available aerosol valves in space.

1988

Precision develops the "Super 90" valve, the fastest filling (button-on) pressure fillable valve in the world. This valve is now the standard in Europe and significantly reduces the "loss" of costly propellant.

1998

John Abplanalp is appointed President of Precision Valve Corporation at the age of 39.

January 2006

Precision establishes the Center for Design Excellence (CDE).
